What I collect

  • Photos of riders and bikes, taken at public roadside spots, bike cafés and events.
  • Your email address, if you sign up to hear when new photos are live, or when you buy.
  • Order details: your name, email, what you bought and, for prints and mugs, your delivery address.
  • Booking details for your own bike shoot: your name, contact details, and the date and road you choose.
  • Messages you send me by email, Facebook or Instagram.
  • I never see your card details. Payments are handled by Pixieset and Stripe.

Why I use it

  • Photos: so riders can find and buy photos of themselves (legitimate interests).
  • Order and booking details: to deliver what you paid for (contract).
  • Email list: to tell you when new photos are live, plus the odd offer (your consent, unsubscribe any time).
  • Sales records: tax and accounts (legal obligation).
  • I may use some photos on this website and on my Facebook and Instagram pages. Ask and I'll take yours down.

Who else handles it

  • Pixieset: galleries, the online store and the email list.
  • Stripe: payments for shoots and gift vouchers.
  • Inkthreadable: prints mugs to order. They only get your name and delivery address.
  • Google: my email.

Some of these companies store data outside the UK, with the safeguards UK law requires. I never sell or share your details for anyone else's marketing.

How long I keep it

  • Galleries stay online so riders can find their photos months later, unless you ask me to remove yours.
  • Order records: six years, for HMRC.
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe.

Getting a photo removed

Email ed@bikephotos.co.uk with the gallery name and photo number. I'll remove it within 7 days, no questions asked. I can also blur a number plate on request.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask me to correct it, delete it or stop using it. If you're unhappy with how I've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
